— III / Sourcing

The right supply, kept running.

Ongoing procurement, quietly managed.

Corpus Obscura acts as the procurement function for clients who require a steady supply of parts, materials, or components, and do not have the internal capacity to maintain it. We locate the right source, negotiate the terms, verify the goods, and keep the supply flowing for as long as the work requires it.

Who we work with

The work spans first-time makers who cannot find the part at their price point, operators mid-build whose momentum has stalled in a vendor search, and companies past the point where carrying procurement themselves still makes sense but not yet at the size that supports a dedicated department.

What we source

Raw materials, manufactured parts, and finished goods, among other categories. A client requiring 5,000 blocks of walnut of a specified grade, US-made, at a specified price, is a representative engagement.

Where we come in

Clients arrive with a recognisable set of problems: they do not know where to look, the minimum order quantity and the budget will not meet in the middle, a prior attempt produced bad quality, or a promising vendor was unreachable across a language or a border. The binding constraint, almost always, is quantity at budget, and the work is paid for on that basis.

How the engagement runs

Search. We begin with the relationships we already hold, followed by the vetted sources we have used before, and closed out with fresh requests for quote where the first two have not produced the answer.

Placement. The client orders from Corpus Obscura. We place the underlying order with the source, verify the goods on arrival, and carry the vendor relationship so the client does not have to.

Verification. Every inbound shipment passes physical review. First articles and first shipments from a new source receive particular attention. Further inspection can be arranged where the application requires it.

Continuity. Reliable suppliers continue to fill the order. A quiet check on the wider market runs periodically to confirm the terms remain fair. Where a supplier falters, a replacement is identified and brought online without disturbance to the client's supply.

A note on who we work for

We are paid by our clients and only by our clients. No vendor commissions, no finder's fees on the supply side, and no referral arrangements that would quietly tilt a recommendation.

What the client receives

A continuing source of supply, at a defined quality and price. The memory of what was bought, from whom, and under what terms stays with us. The engagement persists as long as the product does.
